Bulletins and updates on the production process

May 11, 2002
After a hasty session with several computers and a CD burner, the final product was rushed to the WRBC station for broadcast this evening.  After a wonderfully successful broadcast, the cast and crew celebrated.  Great work, everyone!  To order your copy of the CD set, please click on "Order the CD" on the menu to the left.  Meanwhile, Dominick and Matteo start mulling over next year's Shakespeare-on-the-Air... "Macbeth" perhaps?  Only time will tell...

May 8, 2002
The post-production process has been completed. All of the editing and mixing has been finished up and the recording is now ready for broadcast this coming Saturday. Over the next week, addition copies of the double-CD set will be made and the liner-notes will be designed and printed.

The radio promo has been recorded and is being broadcast by WRBC DJs throughout the day and night during their shows. Written by Publicity Manager Rachael Madden-Connor and recorded/mixed by WRBC tech guru Jason Touhey, it features the voices of Nathan Holt (the Earl of Gloucester) and Colin Simmons (Edmund). To listen to the promo, visit our The Broadcast page.

Thanks to Jan Lee in the Audio-Visual Department at Ladd Library, the final stage of editing can begin! Jan copied over 200 sound effects from the BBC Sound Effects Library (which is 60 CDs in length) for use with the King Lear recording. Over the next week, at least 70 of these effects will be added to the recording.

April 29, 2002
The Publicity Campaign begins! Posters will be going up this week, around campus and around Lewiston-Auburn. In addition, we will be advertising in the Bates Daily, the Bates Student, via Bates Announce and the DailyJolt.com, and we will have a promotional recording on WRBC. Also keep your eyes peeled for our article in the Sun-Journal features section! By the end of this week, we will also be improving the website: adding actor bios, sound clips of bloopers and previews, and pictures from the recording evening.

April 26, 2002
The post-production process is in full swing! For more information about post-production procedures check out the Production Information page. As of today, Acts I-IV have been fully edited and await the final stage of adding sound effects.

Mar. 26, 2002
The editing and mixing process will be delayed for one week while the technical crew at WRBC remove a virus that has infiltrated the production computer at the studio. Hopefully, this will have no adverse effect upon our anticipated broadcast date.

On March 22, David Sargent -- features editor of the Lewiston Sun-Journal -- along with an photographer attended in order to gather information for a features article on the broadcast. On that date, Kati Vecsey, the voice coach for the Bates College Theater Department, also attended in order to assist the company.

Due to funding and schedule constraints we have decided to no longer pursue the option of recording and editing professionally. Instead, the entire project will be put together right here on the Bates Campus. We will be recording in either the Olin Concert Hall or Schaeffer Theater, and we will be editing and mixing in the production studio at WRBC.
